As a business, we have values and principles that we use to guide our decisions and ensure we are the type of company that drivers want to choose and employees enjoy working for.
One of the values that we hold dearest is responsibility. We have a responsibility to the drivers that choose to use Tempcover, and we also have a responsibility as a business to help where we can. This includes our local community.
We’re based in Fleet, Hampshire, and last week, our Customer Experience team used their charity day, an initiative that supports employees helping with causes that are important to them, to volunteer at the local food bank.
The Hart Food Bank is part of The Trussell Trust’s network of 428 food banks, working to tackle food poverty and hunger in our local communities, as well as across the UK.
As well as members of the CX team volunteering, as a business, we’ve started a food bank collection to ensure that as well as our time, we can also provide the much-needed items that food banks rely on.
Customer Experience Rep, Jess Falding, organised the charity day. Talking about the day volunteering, Jess said:
“Our day involved weighing in, date marking, sorting through and storing donations of non-perishable food and toiletries from local companies, community groups, supermarkets and individuals. With the food that had been donated, we made them into parcels to deliver to people in crisis. We were told that the demand of the food bank has gone up since the start of the pandemic and is only predicted to increase as people start to feel the pinch in the cost of living. It was incredibly rewarding to see how our efforts made a real difference to the lives of people in crisis and the overall experience made us reflect on what a difference a day makes.”
Director of Operations & Compliance, Sam Clacey was also part of the team that spent the day at Hart Food Bank:
“It was a great day working with the manager of Hart Food Bank in experiencing first hand the hard work that goes into getting the vital donations sorted and assigned to the people who need it. A huge amount of effort and commitment goes into the food bank and being able to give up some time for our local community was a great experience for us as a team and an excellent opportunity for some valuable team building”
During the day, the Tempcover CX team processed 700kgs of food, packed five food parcels, and sorted a range of food items at the food bank.
